No matter where we are from, there are a number of things that we all have in common. We all have noses, hair, eyes and legs. We share the same physical bodies but we also share some of the same experiences. No matter where you are from in the world, we have all had or are still having that moment where you are distracted from what you're doing.
You're distracted from your homework, paperwork and shopping by the thought of travelling to some far off place. The image of a school child looking longingly out of the window reminds us not of school but of that feeling of wanting to be elsewhere, of wanting an adventure.
I am sure that the imagined adventure that you daydreamed of was as romantic as can be. Thinking not about bedbugs in crummy hotels, but about the thrill of travelling and of seeing a world that is different and strange from the small classroom where you first imagined your adventure.
Being able to travel and follow those daydreams is a luxury regardless of how many or few times you have been able to do so. The childish adventurer in us never really disappears.
We carry it with us to every new place we go. And that small part of us gets excited every time.
